STEAM Magnet

The Annalee STEAM Magnet Program is committed to integrating Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math across the curriculum. In the Magnet classes, teachers utilize strategies to engage the students through investigation and discovery. Students experience project-based learning tasks that promote higher-level thinking and problem solving abilities. Our mission is to develop skills in students that will prepare them for college and 21stcentury skills. We currently have (3) Magnet classes, in grades 2-5.  The staff is experienced, dedicated, and motivated.

Annalee STEAM Magnet classes have a student-to-teacher ratio that is lower than the traditional class sizes, providing more opportunities to meet the needs of diverse learners.

In addition to integrated STEAM lessons inside the classroom, students in the Magnet Program participate in weekly hands-on Next Generation Science lessons in our STEAM CoLABoratory.  Students in the Magnet Program are also  exposed to several educational field trip excursions throughout the school year. Off-campus learning opportunities occur approximately every 4-6 weeks.

Enrichment activities for the Magnet Students include Robotics Club, Mad Science Club, Lego Club, and Drone Club.  *Afterschool parent permission forms are required for all enrichment activities beyond the school day.

During the 2025-2026 school year, we will be continuing our partnership with the LA Galaxy Foundation and Garden School Foundation which offers students hands-on exploration of life science with our Garden Educator. Students also engage in sustainable gardening and healthy cooking classes using our school's community garden. We are also excited be embarking on a new venture with the Garden School Foundation which will allow our students and staff to participate in a Cafeteria to Compost program. This program will expand our ability to foster environmental leadership and stewardship amongst our scholars!
